As an Industrial Fitness Specialist , you will be responsible for the overall implementation, management, and activities designed to promote and improve the injury reduction, health, safety and well-being of warehouse associates.
In this role, you are responsible for implementing and maintaining the Industrial Athlete ProMOTIONS program in our Mid-Atlantic region, including Northeast, MD, Aberdeen, MD, and Robesonia, PA. You will support the development of incentive and motivation programs, assist with health activities, including lectures and workshops on a variety of health and wellness topics, and build a strong awareness of health and well-being in the warehouses. You will also be required to provide one-on-one nutrition advice and exercise prescriptions, and possibly facilitate fitness assessments, including strength, movement, and cardio-respiratory.Want to know more about the department?
This team is charged with changing the culture of safety in our facilities through the ProMOTIONS program. To date, we have implemented our ProMOTIONS program in 13 campuses in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Vermont, Massachusetts, South Carolina, and Florida. The program is changing the approach to warehouse safety and retention by focusing on improving the overall health and well-being of the individuals we protect. Utilizing injury prehab/rehab, nutrition, soft tissue injury reduction, and proper movement patterns, we can help warehouse workers change into Industrial Athletes.Responsibilities
Continually seek opportunities to educate your buildings on the ProMOTIONS content and program.
Perform audits to ensure the health and sustainability of the ProMOTIONS program in your buildings.
Fully supports the vision of creating a work place with Zero harm to the employees and the environment.
Implement ProMOTIONS fitness and nutrition programs. These programs may include components such as dynamic warm-ups, proper lifting assessments, fitness assessments, exercise plans, nutrition evaluations, meal plans, equipment and exercise orientations, regularly scheduled group exercise classes at various intensity levels, strength training, and cardiovascular training.
Work closely with the safety and training departments.
Working with upper management to ensure continued improvement in each warehouse.
Ensure that the departments achieve and continuously improve health & safety performance.
Track metrics to demonstrate performance and communicate results to management.
Understand analysis of injury trends to develop critical focus areas.
Develop skills of the facility supervisors to improve systems and positively impact the safety and wellness of associates.About the environment
You will be working in grocery warehouses filled with incentive associates driving pallet jacks and forklifts. Depending on the type of warehouse you will be in you may experience temperatures ranging from 90 to 36 to -20 degrees. You will be expected to interface with multi department management, warehouse associates, and at risk associates. You must be able to be flexible with not only your time, but your travel in order to meet the needs of our operations and ensure success of the program.Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or equivalent experience
Strong communication skills
Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Professional certifications in Strength and Conditioning and/or personal training (NSCA, NASM, or ACSM) preferred
Skilled in training/development of wide range of employees preferred
Strong working knowledge of warehouse/distribution safety strategies, processes and best practices preferred
Proven people skills, including coaching, confronting, managing, mentoring and teaching
Strong verbal and written communication skills
