For 25 years, Horizons for Homeless Children has championed the needs of
homeless children in Massachusetts and their families. Our mission is improving
the lives of these children and helping their families succeed by providing
high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family
support services. To support our mission, we also advocate on behalf of young
children, train educators and human services providers, and research the impact
of early education on homeless children. Our vision is that every homeless
child will have the opportunity to learn, play, and thrive. Today, we provide
services to more than 2,500 homeless children each week in Massachusetts, and we
are recognized as a national leader in the education of homeless children.
We are seeking enthusiastic Teachers for children ages 0-6 in our
NAECY-accredited Child Care Centers, located in Dorchester, Roxbury, and Jamaica
Plain. We have openings for all age groups - Preschool, Toddler, Infant, and
As a Teacher with Horizons, you will be an integral part of our shared mission
of helping children. As you work with our children on the \"front lines\"
every day, you will:
Collaborate with a talented, dedicated team of early childhood professionals
Teach with high teacher to student ratios in each classroom, ensuring that
our children get the individualized attention that they need.
Develop your professional career through mentorship from your Directors and
teamwork with your peers, in addition to ongoing trainings in current topics in
your field, and financial support for your own continuing education.
Nurture and inspire children who need it most, knowing that you are
impacting the lives of children and families each and every day that you go to
work at Horizons.
BA Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field highly preferred;
Associates or CDA with high-quality teaching experience will be considered
MA EEC Teacher Certification required
Professional, sensitive, and enthusiastic team player, committed to working
with homeless families
Flexible and willing to work all three shifts 8am to 4pm, 9am to 5pm or 10am
Experienced with homeless or at-risk populations preferred
Additional language skills, especially Spanish fluency, preferred
Able to lift up to 50 lbs
